Publication
Written permission to publish from print or non-print works of the Archives is required. Permission to examine manuscripts is not an authorization to publish them. Researchers desiring to publish will be required to complete a Permission to Publish Form. Completion of the Permission to Publish Form represents a contract between the author and the Archdiocese. This contract includes the provision of special permission to publish; the requirement of proper citation of the Archdiocese of St. Louis Archives in any and all publications; and, a statement that the Archives retains ownership and copyright. Written consent to publish or reproduce material does not restrict the right of the Archdiocese to publish the same material or allow others to do so. Permission is not required and no fees (except copying costs) are associated with the "fair use" reproduction of brief excerpts and quotations as defined by the U.S. Copyright Act. However, notification of such use of the archives is a courtesy that is appreciated. Credit should be made as follows: Courtesy of the Archdiocese of St. Louis Archives. Scholars who publish using archival material are requested to send copies of their works to the Archives.
