St. Francis de Sales was established in 1867 as a National German parish. The extant church was built in 1908 at Ohio and Lynch. Its school was built in 1869 and was staffed in the latter years by Notre Dame Sisters. In 1993 the parish of St. Agnes was merged with de Sales under the St. Francis de Sales name. In 1999 the Vincentian Fathers were put in charge of the parish. In 2005 it closed as a parish and was opened as an oratory of the same name.
