Archbishop Carlson exhorts youth to read the Gospel

Archbishop Carlson delivered a homily to over 3,100 teens during the first weekend of the Steubenville conference. In his homily to the teens attending the first weekend of the Steubenville St. Louis Mid-America youth conference on Sunday, Archbishop Robert J. Carlson exhorted the youth to discover Christ through reading the Gospels. He said "read five verses of the Gospel of John each day for thirty days. If, at the end of the thirty days you don't know Christ, write to me, and I will give you ten dollars."

He urged the youth present to read the Bible, to know Christ, and to discover their calling in life. His homily was heard by 3,100 teens, in addition to chaperones, youth ministers, and volunteers helping at the conference. Also in attendance were over 30 priests and many seminarians from St. Louis and other midwestern dioceses.

The Catholic Youth Apostolate's Office of Youth Ministry held its largest Steubenville conference ever this past weekend, and they will hold another similarly-sized conference next weekend, on the campus of Missouri State University. The OYM has a live blog for the event, and you can also follow events on their Facebook page, and under the Twitter hashtag #steubystl.
