Summer Internship Opportunity at the Respect Life Apostolate

Are you looking for experience working for the Catholic Church for the cause of life?

A six-week internship with the Respect Life Apostolate, from June 18-July 27, 20-30 hours/week, with one day per week as a “field trip” to spend the day at a local pro-life agency (Our Lady’s Inn, Birthright, Thrive, with Coalition for Life, etc.) The internship will include some required reading, reflection questions, and many other opportunities.

Mass to Honor All who Have Been Affected By Breast Cancer, 8:00 a.m.

A Very Special Mass will be held on Saturday, June 23, 8:00 am, at St. Mary Magdalen - Brentwood - to honor all who have been affected by breast cancer. Survivors, friends, and family members of anyone who has been affected are welcome.

Many people have expressed that they are not comfortable supporting the Race for the Cure, but still want to join with other families who have gone through this very difficult disease. We hope this Mass will offer those in attendance the opportunity to join their sufferings with Christ as we pray for the peace and healing of all. Fr. Jack Siefert will preside.

The Protection of Conscience Act (SB749) will be heard in the Missouri House as early as Tues., May 15.

Please contact your MO House Rep. to request their support of this important legislation.

Quick action on this bill is very important, as changes will have to be referred back to the Senate and then verified by the whole body. The 2012 Session ends this Friday, May 18.

Let's not let this bill get killed by incessant delays or lack of input.

Join St. Louis Young Adults for Theology on Tap!

Dr. Brooke Jemelka will be speaking on "The Pro-life Issue: A Medical Perspective."

Brooke is currently a resident/physician in the OB/GYN program at Mercy Hospital and was recently featured in the St. Louis Review.

There will be time to socialize and meet other young adults as well as discuss the night's topic.

HHS: Comment Period for the "Final Rule" on the Contraception Mandate ends on June 19

The NCHLA has updated its Action Alert on the Department of Health and Human Services’ contraceptive mandate. See: nchla.org/actiondisplay.asp?ID=292.

Priority No.1: The Comment Period: HHS is seeking comments on how the final rule for the contraceptive mandate published February 15 can accommodate religious organizations. It does not correct the fundamental problems in the mandate. Comments are due by June 19. A final rule on the matter will be issued at a subsequent unspecified date.

Priority No. 2: Legislation. Members of Congress continue to be urged to co-sponsor and promote the passage of the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act (H.R. 1179, S. 1467).
