Say No to BB203

UPDATE: Board Bill 203 has been passed by the St. Louis City Board of Aldermen and signed by Mayor Slay.

Board Bill 203 (BB203) is a proposed amendment to the St. Louis City’s anti-discrimination law, adding pregnancy and reproductive health decisions as protected classes. It attacks and threatens the deeply-held moral and religious convictions of the people of St. Louis by seeking to make St. Louis a "sanctuary city" for abortion.

contact buttonBB203 is "vague and ambiguous but could have terrible consequences for religious institutions." Members of the City’s Housing, Urban Development and Zoning Committee heard initial comments from the public on January 18. Tom Buckley, general counsel for the Archdiocese of St. Louis, told the committee the bill promotes religious persecution and discrimination, adding that it violates the U.S. Constitution and U.S. Supreme Court precedent, and violates state and federal laws.

On February 2, the Housing, Urban Development and Zoning Committee voted to move BB203 out of committee and to the full Board of Aldermen.
