Project Rachel Counseling

WomanCounseling is a huge help to many women trying to come to terms with their abortion experience. One-on-one counseling in a private, confidential setting provides a place to speak openly about your experiences in a safe environment. The process allows you to process the feelings you are experiencing to get "unstuck" from the cycle of emotions and come to a greater self-awareness. You can learn methods of healthy functioning and problem solving. Through counseling, many women have been able to reach a place where they are no longer haunted by past regrets and are able to live with hope for the future.

Project Rachel offers free, professional, confidential counseling to any woman wounded by an abortion experience, regardless of how long it has been.

Project Rachel counselors are specially-trained to help women deal with abortion experiences. They recognize and understand that abortion physically, emotionally, and spiritually violates women and often elicits intense feelings of hopelessness, fear, or loss of control..

Through generous donations, counseling through Project Rachel is available free of charge.

We encourage you to call 314-792-7565 or email stlprojectrachel@archstl.org to learn more or to meet with a Project Rachel counselor.

The physical, emotional, and spiritual pain of abortion is undeniable. Because it is such a traumatic event, many who experience an abortion develop adverse psychological reactions, including possible guilt, anxiety, depression, reexperiencing the abortion, or substance abuse.

Project Rachel and Project Joseph provide healing and hope to women and men wounded by abortion. Project Rachel and Project Joseph are for people of all faiths and backgrounds. Confidentiality is key to both  and your privacy will be respected. No one will be turned away due to cost.

Statement Regarding Pope Francis’ Abortion Announcement

September 2, 2015
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
For more information contact:

The priests of the Archdiocese of St.  Louis have had the faculty not only to absolve the sin of abortion, but also to remove any other obstacles such as an ecclesiastical censure so that an individual may be fully reconciled to God and to the Church.  The priests of the archdiocese have had this faculty granted to them by the archbishop for decades. While the teachings of the Church are consistent, some priests' faculties may be different in other parts of the world. The pope's recent comments extending priests’ authority for the upcoming Year of Mercy is meant to facilitate more accessible reconciliation, healing and mercy throughout the universal Church.

Women who have received valid absolution for the grave sin of abortion in the archdiocese should be assured of the mercy previously extended to them in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

The archdiocese offers spiritual support and counseling through the services of the Project Rachel and Project Joseph ministries. Anyone wounded by abortion is invited to call upon God’s mercy and forgiveness by contacting Project Rachel/Joseph at (314) 792-7565.
