Pastoral Planning is a process that engages and empowers members of a faith community to express their baptismal call in prayer, discernment and actions that address the pastoral needs of the community and those served by it. It involves praying and thinking together about the actions of the Body of Christ in a specific time and place.

In the Archdiocese of St Louis, pastoral planning takes place on many levels. The Department of Pastoral Planning serves as a catalyst along with dedicated Archdiocesan staff and volunteers to help people find and make effective use of planning, available data, and helping resources of the Archdiocese and other agencies.
