Archbishop Robert J. Carlson's
Priorities for the Alive in Christ Initiative

February 2, 2012

My vision for Catholic schools is for them to be truly Alive in Christ! As centers of faith, learning and service, they will be vibrant in their Catholic identity, growing, financially healthy, and able to assist those in need.

Since last spring, four planning teams have worked to prepare action plans for catechesis and academic excellence, evangelization, social justice and stewardship. I am grateful for their good work, and based on their efforts today, I am presenting my ten priorities for the Alive in Christ initiative.

As we look to the future, let us be grateful for the gift of Catholic education and for the people who make it possible for us to hand on the faith to the young Church.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson
Archbishop of St. Louis
