“The definitive aim of Catechesis is to put people not
only in touch, but also in communion and intimacy, with
Jesus Christ.”
(Catechesi Tradendae 5)

On behalf of the Catholic education community of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, we would like to welcome you to our website. As you will learn while you go through the site, Catholic education has a long, proud tradition in this Archdiocese. Ours is the oldest and largest system of schools in the state, and the seventh largest archdiocesan school system in the country. The percentage of Catholic families who choose Catholic schools for their children here is among the highest in the country, with about 45,700 students enrolled in our Catholic elementary and high schools.

In addition to the students enrolled in Catholic schools, there are 21,000 students in parish schools of religion programs and 6,000 adults in parish faith formation programs.

But numbers don’t tell the story. We are blessed in this Archdiocese to have so many individuals who have made strong commitments to Catholic education and its mission of teaching the message of Jesus Christ. From the earliest days of the archdiocese, Bishop DuBourg saw the need for a strong Catholic school system. Today, Archbishop Robert Carlson has pledged to continue this same vision. The St. Louis Catholic community is united in the belief that every child entrusted to us is a gift and deserves a quality Catholic education… this is our Good News.

The mission of our office is to offer leadership and service to all of those involved in the ministry of Catholic education. Through the use of this technology we are able to expand almost endlessly the people that we serve. Please feel free to contact me or my staff members if you have questions or need more information than is provided here.
