January Commemoration Events

BoyOn Jan. 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its decisions in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, holding that women have a constitutional right to abortion and that the state may not limit abortions sought for the reason of maternal health, which was broadly defined to include "all factors - physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the women's age - relevant to the patient."

Since Roe v. Wade, it is estimated that over 58 million children's lives have been lost to abortion in the U.S. alone - and many women and men continue to suffer that loss.

Every January, including the March for Life in Washington, D.C. (see the RLA's separate page for specific pilgrimage opportunities), events are held to remember all those suffering from abortion and to pray for an end to abortion in our country.
