lflmarenr.jpgThe seasons and cycles of marriage bring change. Those early days of dating, with long talks and feelings of being so close that nothing could ever be more important than each other, make way for family life and children, maintaining a home, jobs, career changes, and all the many challenges that occur in daily life.

Today’s couples express a desire for a deep friendship and good communication with their spouse. They want "more" than they have seen in other generations – they desire a "soul mate." Sometimes they wake up one morning, whether in early marriage, the middle years of raising a family, the "empty nest" transition after kids leave home, or in their senior years and say "What happened?" And how can they not only appreciate all that they have in their lives, but recapture that deep friendship, great love and oneness that is a desire of every married person’s heart.

What about our couple spirituality? Have we been getting by on a wing and a prayer, always thinking that "someday" we will find a way to get closer to God and to share our spirituality and daily graces with our spouse? Have our communication skills continued to grow? Would we welcome help with financial issues? Have some patterns of hurt and unforgiveness taken hold? Do we share our wishes, hopes and dreams anymore?

Taking care of your marriage from the very beginning can be a priority! We always make plans to do the things that are most important.
