The Daily Worldmissionnaires Celebrate 60 Years at Annual Appreciation Dinner!

Daily Worldmissionnaires Annual Appreciation DinnerThe Daily Worldmissionnaires Annual Appreciation Dinner was held on May 8, 2013 at Orlando Gardens. Moderators and Group Leaders were given special recognition for their support of the DW program, as well as their recruiting efforts, prayers, and sacrifices for the worldwide missions of the Catholic Church.

Msgr. Francis X. Blood, Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies and Spiritual Moderator of the Daily Worldmissionnaires, gave the keynote address. Msgr. Blood shared photos of his recent trip to Rome, which took place as Pope Benedict XVI was announcing his resignation. Msgr. Blood also shared photos and stories about three special missionaries who benefit from our prayers and support – Bishop Morgan Casey in Bolivia, Bishop Bejoy D’Cruze in Bangladesh, and Sr. Anila Christy in India.

Following Msgr. Blood’s keynote address, he presented the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Award. This year’s recipient was Mr. Edward Meiners (posthumously). His award was accepted by his wife, Mrs. Marge Meiners, along with her children and grandchildren. A plaque honoring all recipients of the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Award will be displayed at the Pontifical Mission Societies Office. Each time the award is conferred, the recipient’s name is engraved on the plaque.

The evening also included a special celebration of the Daily Worldmissionnaires’ 60th diamond anniversary. Guests received diamond paperweights as attendance prizes. Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen’s birthday was also celebrated. He was born on May 8, 1895.

Thank you to all of our Daily Worldmissionnaires for attending the Annual Appreciation Dinner, and for your daily prayers and sacrifices for the missions!
