Bolivia Trip

50th Anniversary Trip to BoliviaFrom August 16 to 24, 2006 there was a trip to Bolivia to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Latin America Apostolate. Archbishop Raymond L. Burke led a delegation from Saint Louis in his first pastoral visit to our missions in Bolivia. Former Missionary Priests, Sisters of the Most Precious Blood, Papal Volunteers in Latin America (PAVLA), members of the Bolivian Society of Saint Louis, family and friends of the Latin America Apostolate, and any of the faithful of the Archdiocese were invited to participate in this trip.

50th Anniversary Trip to BoliviaThe group spent 4 days and nights in the city of La Paz. Activities and events included Masses and celebrations at Maria Reina Parish and Cristo Rey Parish in La Paz, and at Santiago Parish in Calamarca (about 35 miles outside of La Paz); a visit to Hogar “Carlos de Villegas” orphanage; a bus tour of the city of La Paz; a shopping excursion near San Francisco Church and artist merchants; and a tour of Tiwanaku, the ancient Aymara ruins.

The trip to Bolivia to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Latin America Apostolate was an experience of a lifetime! The celebrations in La Paz, Calamarca, and Riberalta were all rich in meaning, and offered our visitors from Saint Louis wonderful opportunities to observe the cultural differences in each city. We thank the people of Bolivia and our Saint Louis priest missionaries for hosting our guests from the Archdiocese of Saint Louis!
