Dear Friends,
It is with much joy that we write you, sending our affectionate wishes for the blessing of God during this Christmas Season, praying that the happiness of the birth of Jesus fills your heart and that peace and love reign in your home. We are most grateful for your solidarity and the great help that you give us which makes it possible that our children can live and grow in a healthy atmosphere, receiving the love that they so need.
We would like to share with you the story of one of our children, Benjamin, who suffered greatly in the first days of his life. The woman who gave birth to him rejected him totally, deliberately damaging his eyes and then throwing him into a septic tank to die. Fortunately a neighbor heard his cries, pulled him from the filth, cleaned him and then called the police to take him to the hospital.
After a time in the hospital he was brought here to us at Hogar Salomon Klein at just one month of age. It was evident that his eyes, especially the corneas, had been severely damaged. He was taken to several specialists whose opinions often varied. After a number of operations, his eyes have shown improvement. When he is older he will have a transplant of both corneas so that he can have good vision.
He is now a year and nine months. He is very intelligent, he laughs a lot and, even though he has limited vision of his surroundings, he has no problem getting around and joining in the activities with other children of his age.
In the name of all of the children of Hogar Salomon Klein, we wish you a Blessed Christmas, and we ask you to continue to carry in your heart love for these many abandoned children. With your help we can give them the needed care and affection that will restore to them the right to have a healthy and happy life.
May God bless each of you for your great generosity!
