As for Me and My House
In 2011 the Archdiocese of St. Louis began an important initiative to increase awareness of the dangers of pornography, especially the devastating effects it has on relationships and spiritual life. This initiative, As for Me and My House, originated in the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas, and focuses on. Awareness - by providing information about the pervasiveness of pornography and its detrimental impact on individuals, families, and society.
Help - by assisting people to identify the problem, to protect themselves and their families, and to find help.
Hope - by providing opportunities to deepen their understanding of the Catholic Church’s integrated vision of the human person and Pope John Paul II’s reflections on the meaning of human love and life.
Healing - by providing spiritual and emotional support and assistance for individuals and families at the parish, Archdiocesan, and community levels.
God has entrusted the Church with the responsibility of teaching
His children about the joy, beauty, and sanctity of human sexuality.
Everyday the stories and statistics tell us that our culture suffers in traumatic ways from the impact that pornography has on marriages and families. The misuse of sexuality often leads to abuse and a degrading treatment of another human being for personal pleasure. When faced with the shocking numbers which reflect the tremendous growth of the pornography industry in the U.S., one can only react with extreme sadness.

Matthew Fradd: talks about how he
overcame his addiction to porngoraphy
Pornography has the dangerous potential of inviting the innocent into a destructive relationship. At first the attraction may feel as though pornography will fill the emptiness and satisfy an intense longing. In truth, pornography leaves the viewer unable to build authentic relationships with anyone, creating a void and an unhappiness within the person that can only be healed by God's grace.

From the Pulpit
For any of us that have been alive for more than 10 minutes, we know that human relationship and human belonging gets complicated and intriguing. To do this in a holy and healthy way adds even greater challenge. Because doing it well takes time, energy and commitment, most of us try short cuts. Instead of staying committed for the long haul, we try to skip the steps of authenticity, process, relationship, honesty, sacrifice and surrender. We live in a society which conditions us by placing a high premium on efficiency and instant gratification. Many of us have programmed ourselves to expect things quickly and easily. When that doesn’t happen it is a sign to us that something is wrong or may even trigger or exacerbate our restlessness, instead of a sign the we are living with the reality of messy lives that take time and commitment.
