Catholic? Interested In Fighting Poverty? Intern With The Catholic Campaign For Human Development (CCHD) In St. Louis!
The Archdiocese of St. Louis’ Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is looking for a practicing Catholic who is committed to social justice for its 2016-2017 internship program. The intern will work 10 hours a week from September-May and will receive $12/hr. Training for the CCHD internship will take place in Washington D.C. from June 1-3. Intern must be able to attend training. Costs for the training, including travel, are covered.
In partnership with the diocesan director, the intern will work to increase the capacity of the CCHD office, improving its effectiveness and outreach. They will promote the annual collection by building relationships with key parishes, clergy, and lay leaders; manage social media (Facebook, Twitter); and maintain the webpage. They will also meet with the grant-funded organizations to highlight their work through social media, blog posts, and newspaper articles. In the spring, the intern will assist the director and the CCHD committee in the grant-decision making process with both the national and local grants. They will also choose one or two funded organizations to work on a small capacity-building project.
Successful candidates should have strong writing, speaking, and social media skills, knowledge of editing Word Press or similar websites, good understandings of Catholic Social Teaching and the root causes of poverty, and experience in working with low-income and/or marginalized populations. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or similar design programs is a plus. Some fluency in Spanish is helpful. It will also be helpful if the intern has his or her own transportation.
Visit www.usccb.org/cchd to learn more about CCHD and go to www.archstl.org/cchd to apply. Applications are due Friday, March 18th.
