Media Information for Schlafly Funeral

ST. LOUIS – The Archdiocese of St. Louis today released information for the media regarding the funeral Mass for Eagle Forum founder, Phyllis Schlafly, which will take place on Saturday, September 10, at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis (4431 Lindell).

Details are as follows:

Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson, Archbishop of St. Louis, will attend Mass in choir. Most Reverend Robert J. Hermann, auxiliary bishop emeritus, will celebrate Mass. Father Brian Harrison, O.S., will be the homilist.

One pool TV camera and one pool still photographer will be allowed inside the Cathedral Basilica during the funeral Mass. Media wishing to have access to pool photos should contact Teak Phillips (teakphillips@archstl.org). For access to the video pool, contact Ed Rich (erich@ksdk.com).

A press area will be available directly across from the Cathedral Basilica on the south side of Lindell Blvd. beginning at 12:30 p.m. Power supply and risers will not be provided in the press area.

Reporters wishing to take notes will be allowed inside the Cathedral Basilica during the funeral Mass and will have reserved seating, but no photography, video, social media coverage, or interviews will be allowed inside the Cathedral Basilica. Interviews may be conducted outside the Cathedral Basilica following the Mass. Video and photos may be taken outside the Cathedral Basilica from across the street in the designated press area.

Out of respect, there will be no access to the family and friends of Mrs. Schlafly. Visitors and media are reminded that a Catholic funeral Mass is a solemn ceremony and a respectful atmosphere inside the Cathedral Basilica is requested.

Media and visitors are asked to enter through the main doors to the Cathedral Basilica on Lindell Blvd., which will be opened at 1:00 p.m. All guests and media accessing the Cathedral Basilica for the Mass will be subject to airport-style security screening. Limited public parking will be available in the Taylor Ave. lot.
