ST. LOUIS – Archbishop Robert J. Carlson released the following statement regarding the death of St. Louis County police officer Blake Snyder this morning:

I am saddened to learn that St. Louis County police officer Blake Snyder has died in the line of duty.

I ask that the faithful of the Archdiocese of St. Louis join me in praying for the officer and his loved ones. The men and women of our police departments, and all who serve our community as first responders, will be in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I encourage first responders to seek out their chaplains who provide an important ministry in this time of grief.

May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace.

Archbishop Carlson recently offered a Blue Mass on the 15th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks to honor men and women currently serving as emergency responders, as well as all those who have died in the line of duty.
