Position Description: 

The Archdiocese of Saint Louis has an opportunity for a full-time Accounting Assistant. This position is part of the Finance Office and is located at the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO. Duties & Responsibilities:
• Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare upload journal entries and adjusting journal entries.
• Reconciles general ledger accounts as assigned (i.e., monthly reconciliation with agency staff)
• Oversees and coordinates the operation of the Skyward Tuition System at the high schools.
• Works with agencies to ensure all documentation and coding for credit card transactions has been obtained. In addition, create the monthly credit card activity journal entry.
• Creates the high school credit card deposit upload with agency input.
• Creates Catholic Charities deposit Lawson upload entries.
• Answer questions for agency directors and staff.
• Prepares or assists in preparing monthly/quarterly manual reports and special reports as needed.
• Assists with special projects.
• Forwards reports and correspondence to agency’s director and staff.
• Coordinates courier deliveries and updates courier routes for all school and agency deliveries.
• Download semi-monthly FACTS files; creates batches and journal entry.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements:
• Associate’s degree from a two-year college and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Skills & Attitudes Required for Success in Job:
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from agency directors.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
