Position Description: 

Marygrove Child Center, a residential treatment center that serves children birth-21, has an opening for a Chief Development Officer. This position strongly impacts the lives of children and young adults who have experienced the need for intervention in their lives. Candidates should exemplify an ability to be self-motivated and have a broad background in fund-raising activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
• Develop and maintain a strong donor base by instituting a planned giving program as well as an endowment fund for the agency.
• Under the direction of the Board of Directors and the agency Chief Executive develop a strategic fund developmental plan.
• Serve as a liaison to the Marketing and ad hoc fund raising events committees of the Board of Directors
• Develop special programs for significant donors
• Train Development Department team members on solicitation approaches and techniques
• Responsible for the overall management of the Public Relations Department, Volunteer Program, Grant Writing and agency outreach opportunities.
• Direct and manage agency annual appeal.
• Serve as a liaison with Catholic Charities and Archdiocese fund raising and marketing endeavors
• Collaborate with Director of Development to communicate agency activities and services to funders and press
• Assist in the development of the agency annual budget
• Conduct presentations to share and promote Marygrove’s mission and promote goodwill within the community as well as conduct agency tours
• Cultivate relationships with individuals, corporations and foundation donors
• Help the organization meet its quality improvement, evaluation, and reporting requirements by contributing to developing outcomes, participating in data collection, interpreting data and applying it to improve practices and outcomes
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer

Minimum Skills/Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Marketing, Communication, Business or related field or the equivalent based upon a combination of education and experience
• Five or more years of experience in similar fund raising and development roles in not for profit organizations
• Successful track record of identifying, cultivating and soliciting foundation donors
• Demonstrated ability to secure new funding sources in prior experience
• Demonstrated understanding of grant requirements and successful track record of securing grants
• Experience in creating and managing budgets for fund raising activities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience with public relations
• Experience developing strategic plans in a fund development role
• Have held positions that demonstrated strong leadership, interpersonal/team building, problem-solving and achievement of organizational goals, and demonstrating measurable success
• Experience in personnel management
• Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office Suite and related technology
• Understand and practice the Marygrove Spirituality in the Workplace principles
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment, functioning for the good of the team over the individual

Work Schedule Flexibility:
Evenings and weekends associated with events and community networking will be required.
