Position Description: 

The Archdiocese of Saint Louis has an opportunity for a full-time HR Benefits Assistant. This position is part of the Office of Human Resources located at the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO. The Archdiocese is a non-profit organization which encompasses 180 parishes, 110 schools, over 90 offices/agencies and a Catholic population of more than 500,000. Position Summary:
The HR Benefits Assistant provides administrative assistance to the employee benefit plan of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. The position administers the monthly health insurance invoice. As such, the position is often the point of communication for both employers and employees’ questions and concerns. The position ensures timely process flow of forms to enroll, cancel, or change the various employee benefits as offered by the Archdiocese.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Publish monthly health insurance invoice to 250 employer parishes/agencies representing approximately 4,000 employee participants.
• Assisting employers and employees with their benefit inquiries via email or phone calls and resolving any of their escalated benefit issues and inquires.
• Employee Wellness initiatives including but not limited to the annual employee flu vaccine program, the biannual H&H biometric screenings, mammogram screenings, the Catholic Education health fair, and the $250 Wellness Incentive Program.
• HRIS new benefit solution implementation assistance.
• Prepare correspondence such as Continuation of Coverage letters, Certificate of Creditable Coverage letters, and memos regarding employment and/or health insurance coverage dates.
• Assist with Delta Dental’s electronic data file reports.
• Send Notice of Coverage Ending letters to employees whose child will soon turn 26 years old, Early Retirees who soon will turn 65 years old, and Continuation of Coverage participants who will soon have been enrolled for the maximum time.
• Work with the Archdiocesan Finance Office to set up new bill-at-home customers when an employee/dependent is moving to Continuation of Coverage/Early Retiree.
• Enter United Healthcare (UHC) and Delta Dental Claims amount into the Spreadsheet.
• Write revisions to the annual Archdiocesan Employee Benefits Manual.
• Assist Benefits Specialist with Open Enrollment issues when needed.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements:
A High School diploma is required. An Associate Degree or College Degree is a plus.

Skills & Attitudes Required for Success in Job:
• Must be able to maintain complete confidentiality regarding personal and benefits information
• Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and be able to use the internet with ease
• Must have excellent communication skills, both speaking and writing, with excellence to customer-service and work ethic.
• Must be able to exercise patience with the employers and employees we serve
• Must be able to analyze data for accuracy and process benefits according to Plan Documents
• Positive attitude in work assignments
• Organization skills with accomplishing timely task assignments
