Pediatric Registered Nurse

Position Description: 

Marygrove Child Center, a residential treatment center that serves children birth-21, has an opening for a full-time Pediatric RN. The RN provides health care needs such as immunizations for residents and staff, TB skin testing for staff, triage for ill or injured, prescribed medical treatment and personal care through communication with the primary care nurse practitioner or physician for the residents of Marygrove.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
• Follows written physician or Nurse Practitioner orders
• Documents and provides prescribe medical treatment authorized by nurse practitioner or physician
• Triages patients for illness or injury and reports to the nurse practitioner or physician in a timely manner
• Update Master Care Plans with daily medical visits
• Sign off on Treatment Plans and Critical Incident reports in FamCare
• Follow through with signed legal consent forms for psychotropic medication changes
• Assist with the monitors of residential heights, weights, blood pressure, and peak flows (if asthmatic)
• Maintains Immunization Program and records for all residents
• Maintaining Depo Shot for residents
• Obtains lab results of blood or urine for testing and monitoring
• Reviews prescribed medications and monitors proper dispensing and documentation
• Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medications or treatment to nurse practitioner or physician
• Administers prescribed medication orally, subcutaneous or intramuscular injection methods and records time and amount on chart
• Prepares Leave of Absence medications for residents
• Provides MCCA medication certification and recertification training for staff
• Rotates on-call responsibilities with Director of Nursing
• Assumes Director of Nursing supervisory responsibilities when absent
• Assist in coordinating the daily operation of the clinic
• Help the organization meet its quality improvement, evaluation, and reporting requirements by contributing to developing outcomes, participating in data collection, interpreting data and applying it to improve practices and outcomes
• Performs other related duties as delegated by the Director of Nursing

Working Conditions Associated with this Position:
• Routine office conditions associated with full-time employment
• On call responsibilities rotated with Director of Nursing

Minimum Skills / Qualifications:
• Valid Driver’s License-MO E eligible
• BS or completion of accredited Registered Nursing Program
• Registered Nurse in the State of Missouri
• 3-5 years experience in Pediatric Nursing

• First Aid/CPR
• Medication Certification
• SCM Restraint Training
• SCM De-Escalation
• Safe Environment Program – Archdiocese of St. Louis
