Immaculate Conception Parish (Dardenne Prairie, MO)
Position Description: 

Immaculate Conception Parish is a large suburban parish in the Archdiocese of St. Louis with 4,000+ families and over seventy-eight active ministries and organizations.

The Youth Minister is a full-time, 40 hours a week employee who will work with parish middle school children (6th-8th grade) and their parents to further the mission of youth evangelization. This individual will support and carry forth the mission of ICD “to proclaim the Lord Jesus Christ through our lives, striving with joy to fulfill our Baptismal calling by prayer and worship, teaching, and sharing our faith, serving others, and fostering unity in diversity.” While middle school ministry has existed in some form for a while, this is a new position with much opportunity for creativity, new approaches, and prayerful development of middle school evangelization efforts.

• Practicing Catholic striving to live out the Gospel message
• Self-motivated person who can effectively recruit and manage volunteers
• Someone who has a heart for young people and a desire to see them grow in holiness
• B.A. or experience in Theology, Catechetics, Youth Ministry, Campus Ministry, Religious Studies, Adolescent Psychology, or another related field helpful

• Work in close collaboration with Pastor, Lead Youth Minister, and Associate Priests (especially associate undertaking primary youth ministry effort)
• Maintain yearly YM budget with parish bookkeeper and youth minister
• Maintain weekly communication with parents and teens
• Maintain regular social media presence along with Lead YM
• Yearly youth ministry publicity campaign through parish
• Regular meetings with staff members, parents, core members, and fellow youth ministers to establish solid relationships of support
• Maintain presence in parish school, PSR, and local middle schools (as is possible)

• Establish and develop a consistent offering for middle school ministry
• Recruit and maintain adult and high school core team
• Either take charge of teaching 8th grade PSR class once a week or be committed to weekly presence in PSR classrooms of your choosing
• Assist in 7th and 8th grade advisory mentorship program with ICD school
• Coordinate 2-3 special events for 8th grade for Confirmation each school year
• Collaborate and maintain good communications with principal and director of religious education
• Spearhead the following retreats and pilgrimage opportunities: 1) Pro-Life Pilgrimage (January – 8th Grade) 2) LUKE18 Weekend Confirmation Retreat (April or May – 8th Grade)
• Empower high schoolers to lead the ministry with deep respect and Christian care for the middle schoolers
• Research possibility of involving 5th graders in youth ministry efforts
• Develop processes that lead 8th graders especially into high school youth ministry
