Position Description: 

Queen of Peace Center has full-time, part-time and PRN opportunities for Medical Assistants. Queen of Peace Center is a family-centered behavioral healthcare provider for women with addiction, their children and families. The gender focused female recovery center provides a variety of treatment options to women with co-occurring disorders and those affected by trauma.

Position Summary:
Provides supervision and assistance to the residents, their children and outpatient clients in accordance with the criteria of the program’s goals. Works closely with the nurse and needs to have knowledge of chemical dependency as a disease, including treatment and intervention methods. Monitors client behavior, conflict resolution, and hygiene, conducts group education, answers phone, and passes medication to agency clients. Implements rules and monitors cleanliness of the environment.

Responsibilities:
• Gather client information upon admission to the unit, including adult assessment of addiction and withdrawal
• Continuously observe and document client behavior, mental status and activities
• Record client information such as vital signs, weight and medication adherence
• Provide support to the physician as needed
• Follow all operating procedures of the treatment program
• Thorough and accurate documentation
• Provide conflict resolution as needed
• Participate in all required meetings and trainings to increase knowledge of substance abuse
• Effectively communicate with clients and staff
• Provide support to clinical staff
• Assume any other responsibilities as may be appropriate and directed by the Residential Manager

Qualifications:
• Sincere dedication to the mission of Queen of Peace Center
• Minimum of an Associate's Degree in a medical field, with knowledge of substance abuse and mental health
• Med. Tech Level 1 Certification, CPR and First Aid and Class E license
• Intermediate computer and typing skills required

Skills, Knowledge and Competencies:
• Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health is essential
• Experience working in crisis setting with individuals and families
• Experience in working effectively and respectfully with people from many different backgrounds
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Outlook
• Superb oral and written communication skills
