Parish Missionary Disciples
Parish Missionary Disciples is an intensive year-long formation in the New Evangelization. Six parishes are participating in this pilot year of the program. Each parish is represented by the pastor and seven parish evangelization leaders. All-day sessions are held once a month at the Rigali Center. There are also eight additional days devoted to forming our training team, as the training team will facilitate the parish training in subsequent years.
Parish Progress Update
With the program beginning in March, we have completed four parish days and three trainer days. Thus far, all participants have learned, among other things, the principles of evangelization, tools and resources for the journey, the vision for missionary disciples, discipleship roadmap principles, the elements of prayer, how to lead a Bible study, and the Examen process.
Disciple Makers Index: All six of this year’s participating parishes have implemented the Disciples Makers Index at their parishes. The Catholic Leadership Institute, in partnership with Measuring Success, created an extensive survey to gauge parish vitality.
Current Participating Parishes:
- All Saints in St. Peters
- Immaculate Conception in Dardenne
- Immaculate Heart of Mary in New Melle
- St. Francis of Assisi in Oakville
- St. Joseph in Farmington
- St. Peter in Kirkwood
Training Team Progress Update
The training team is learning discipling skills and leadership skills. In order to better understand our leadership style, we took the DISC Assessment and discussed the results. We are currently developing an action plan for next year, which will most likely include training for 12 additional parishes.
