Paul VI Programs and Staff

pp-paulus-vi.jpg We are named after Blessed Pope Paul VI (Pope from 1963-1978) who completed the Second Vatican Council and began the implementation of its teachings in the Church. Inspired by his vision of catechesis we seek to "deepen, consolidate, nourish and make ever more mature" the faith of our students through "a catechesis full of gospel vitality and in a language suited to people and circumstances" (Pope Paul VI, Evangelii Nuntiandi 54)

Paul VI Catechetical Programs:

  • The Pontifical Paul VI Institute of Catechetical and Pastoral Studies

    • We offer courses in both online and face-to-face classroom formats covering Theology, Morality, Scripture, Spirituality, Religious Education and more. Courses are accredited by the Vatican Congregation for the Clergy and meet requirements for certification by the Archdiocesan Education Office for both school and parish teachers as well as for Coordinators and Directors of Religious Education. Paul VI offers a Catechism Certificate for those who complete the four courses on the four parts of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. All Catholics of the Archdiocese are encouraged to take these courses for their personal faith enrichment and for life-long learning and ongoing faith formation. Click on Paul VI Institute Courses on the menu for more information.
  • Catechetical Retreats

    • The Sisters of the Society Devoted to the Sacred Heart on staff at Paul VI provide a full range of retreats for schools and parishes. These include sacramental preparation retreats for first communion and confirmation, all school retreats, family camps, and retreats for school faculty and parish staff. • Lay Formation Program

    • The Lay Formation Program is designed to offer lay men and women an opportunity to deepen their union with Christ and grow in missionary discipleship through three years of intellectual, spiritual and pastoral formation. Participants are selected by their pastors. Those who complete the program commit themselves to 3 years of service in their parishes in areas such as faith formation, evangelization, pastoral ministry and service to those in need.
