Voter Registration and Get-Out-the-Vote

An important component of good citizenship is exercising the right and responsibility to vote. The Church encourages us to be mindful of our duty as citizens to participate in the electoral process, to register, to become informed on the issues and to vote.

Many Americans are "silent" in elections because they did not take the important first step: registering to vote. About one-third of all voting age Americans are not registered to vote.

Voter registration campaigns in your parish are a service both to your community as well as to your parish. Those who have moved, who will be 18 years of age by the election date or have a name change should register.
