The Respect Life Apostolate (RLA) promotes the Catholic Church’s teachings on respect for and legal protection of every human life from conception to natural death by coordinating educational, spiritual, pastoral, and public policy advocacy efforts with particular focus on those issues in the culture that threaten life - abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, and unethical advances in scientific technology.

Witness to Hope

Lifeline Coalition Collection at Annual Memorial Mass to Help 10,000-Plus Women, Families Facing Crisis Pregnancies

Each year, at the Annual Roe v. Wade Memorial Mass, the Offertory collection benefits the LifeLine Coalition. This coalition is made of Catholic social service agencies and pro-life caregivers that provide emotional and financial support to 10,000-plus local women and families facing crisis pregnancies each year.

Agencies such as Our Lady's Inn, Birthright, and Good Shepherd Children & Family Services bring hope to these women and families who choose life for their unborn children. The collection at the Memorial Mass is part of the overall LifeLine Coalition Campaign, in which parishes and schools throughout the archdiocese also take part in. Click here for more information about the Coalition's efforts.

This year, the Memorial Mass is on Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis at 10 a.m. and will be celebrated by Bishop Mark Rivituso. All are invited to attend the Mass, rosary procession, and Benediction. Click here for more information or contact the RLA at 314-792-7555 or prolife@archstl.org.

St. Louis Archdiocesan Eighth Graders to Reflect on Chastity, Respect Life during 2018 Creative Writing Contest

Over 1,100 eighth grade students throughout the archdiocese participate in the RLA's Creative Writing Contest each spring. These students --representing 70-plus Catholic elementary schools and PSR programs--are asked to reflect and write about how chastity and other healthy choices in their teenage years help to reduce abortion.

The RLA awards five scholarships and several honorable mention awards to be applied to the students' intended Catholic high school or accredited Catholic home school program. All finalists and award winners are invited to a special assembly with Archbishop Carlson at the Cardinal Rigali Center.

Entries are being accepted for the 2018 Creative Writing Contest now through Friday, Feb. 23, 2018. To enter, contact your parish principal, PSR coordinator, director of religious education, or home school association/co-op. Click here for official rules and more information or call 314-792-7555.
