Masses for Bishop-emeritus Hermann, Cardinal Burke, and Bishop-designate Rice

Bishop-designate Edward M. Rice will be ordained on January 13, 2011.Over the course of the next two months, the Archdiocese of St. Louis is excited to hold special Masses of Thanksgiving for Bishop-emeritus Hermann and Cardinal Burke, and a Mass of Episcopal Ordination for Bishop-designate Rice.

Thanksgiving Mass - Bishop-emeritus Hermann

Sunday, December 12, 2010 – 10:00 a.m.

A Mass of Thanksgiving will be held for Bishop-emeritus Robert J. Hermann on December 12, 2010 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis. All are invited to join Archbishop Robert J. Carlson in thanking Bishop-emeritus Herman for his eight years of service in the Archdiocese of St. Louis as an Auxiliary Bishop.

Thanksgiving Mass - Cardinal Burke

Sunday, January 9, 2011 – 2:00 p.m.

A Mass of Thanksgiving will be held for Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke on January 9, 2011 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis. All are invited to join Archbishop Robert J. Carlson in congratulating Cardinal Burke on his elevation to the rank of Cardinal and thanking him for his work as the Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura.

Episcopal Ordination Mass - Bishop-designate Rice

Thursday, January 13, 2011 – 2:00 p.m.

Bishop-designate Edward M. Rice will be ordained to the Episcopal order by Archbishop Robert J. Carlson on January 13, 2011 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis. All are invited to join in this celebration, as the Archdiocese of St. Louis receives a new auxiliary bishop!

Pastoral Assembly

The Pastoral Assembly in the Archdiocese of St. Louis will take place at the Cardinal Rigali Center (20 Archbishop May Drive, St. Louis, Mo. 63119) on Saturday, October 30, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

The theme of this assembly is Evangelization.  Most Reverend Robert Carlson will present his vision for Evangelization in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.  Reverend Don Wester will follow with his presentation, “Planning for a Faith-Filled Future”.  Father Wester is pastor of All Saints Parish and a lecturer of Homiletics at Kenrick School of Theology.

Delegates (2 each) from the archdiocesan parishes and two Newman Centers are invited to participate in this assembly.  This will be the first Pastoral Assembly that Archbishop Robert Carlson will host in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Participants must register for this event through their parish or Newman Center.  Seats are still available.

"White Mass" for Healthcare Professionals: Sunday, October 17

The annual “White Mass” for the special intentions of healthcare professions will be celebrated by Archbishop Robert J. Carlson at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 17, at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis (4431 Lindell Blvd. at Newstead). All men and women religious and Catholic laypersons serving in the healthcare professions are invited to attend.

The Mass is associated with St. Luke, the patron of physicians and surgeons, whose feast day is Oct. 18.  A reception sponsored by the St. Louis Guild of the Catholic Medical Association will follow in Boland Hall. For more information, phone 314-792-7812.
