Our Mission
- The Office of Catholic and Education Formation serves school and parish communities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis in our shared work of faith formation and academic excellence, challenging all to live the teachings of Jesus Christ.
- The Archdiocese of St. Louis serves 30,000 students across 90 elementary schools and 8 high schools. Approximately 7,000 additional students attend 16 independent religious-sponsored high schools.
- We seek mission fulfillment by teaming in ministry in order to provide essential programs, procedures, guidance, and policies to strengthen our schools in the areas of: Catholic Identity, Teaching and Learning, Governance and Leadership, and Operation Vitality.
Educational Programs
Elementary (K-8)
The Archdiocese of St. Louis has 100 Catholic elementary schools and educates almost 23,000 students in kindergarten through grade eighth grade.
Our elementary schools offer vibrant and life-giving religious education programs and strong academic programs that incorporate instruction in all the subject areas including fine arts and physical education/health.
Our schools are child-centered and are committed to providing strong academic and developmental programs which enable children to grow to their full potential.
High School

Special Education
The Archdiocese of St. Louis offers an elementary special education and early intervention services that focus on a child’s strengths, abilities, and current successes and potential for the future, rather than on his/her disability.
Parents are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s social, personal and academic growth in partnership with faculty members specially trained in learning disorders and child development.
In a setting with a low student-to-teacher ratio, teachers can give special attention to improvement of a student’s organizational skills, homework completion and school conduct, as well as to providing an appropriately challenging curriculum that provides opportunity for success.
Parish School of Religion (PSR)
Parish Schools of Religion (PSRs) provide catechetical instruction to children and youth who attend public schools, so that young people can grow in intimacy with Jesus, be knowledgeable about their faith, and integrate the teachings of the Gospel into their lives.
Parish religion programs also prepare young people for the reception of first sacraments. Over 119 parishes, with over 16,300 PSR students, offer programs to assist parents in the faith formation of their children.
