Music, art and poetry have been woven throughout all these years filled with love and learning and laughter. Guatemala is dear to my heart and soul. Our seminary sisters have been a special grace to me in the last 10 years. The community of Daughters of Charity support and form me for service of those who are poor year after year. About Sister Sheila Marie Hart: I grew up just north of Chicago with three older siblings and over 100 foster and day care children sharing my first 12 years. My degrees in English and learning disabilities prepared me for over 40 years of experience in elementary teaching, administration and special needs education. I was teaching in Long Beach, Mississippi, when Hurricane Camille destroyed the school and in Natchez, Mississippi, during integration and the Civil Rights era. My 60 years as a Daughter of Charity has shown me that by following one’s heart and answering God’s call fulfills His promise of a grace-filled life on Earth and the eternal joy of His kingdom to come.

About Sister Mary Ann Hartman: I grew up in St. Louis, the oldest of seven children of devout Catholic parents. I lived in St. Louise de Marillac Parish and went to that school where I was taught by the Daughters of Charity. I graduated from Laboure High School in 1960, again having had the daughters as teachers! From them I learned the charism of the Daughters of Charity and their dedicated service to the poor and persons in need. I began postulancy in 1962 and entered the Daughters in January 1963. My 60 years as a Daughter of Charity have been a joy-filled journey, and one I truly love! Each day I give thanks to God for my sisters in community, those whom I have served, the many blessings I have received and the happiness I have found as a Daughter of Charity.

About Sister Leah Marie Holzum: I grew up in the small community of Leopold, Missouri, the seventh of eight children of Leo and Wilhelmina Holzum. After high school, I went to St. Louis where I graduated from DePaul Hospital School of Nursing in 1962 and entered the Daughters of Charity in 1963. I have been blessed to serve in the health and wellness ministry throughout my 60 years as a Daughter of Charity, actively advocating for all people to have quality, accessible health care. During my ministry as a nurse I served with and to a diversified multiracial/ethnic staff and clients. Currently, I serve as a care assistant at The Sarah Community in Bridgeton, where I am blessed to serve our sisters who live there. I am grateful for my 60 years as a Daughter of Charity and feel very blessed by the closeness I continue to have with my sisters and with my many nieces and nephews and their families. My primary ministry has been in the health field and governance, from serving as a CEO to serving on the provincial council and as visitatrix of the Province of St. Louise in St. Louis. About Sister Marilyn Moore: I was born and raised in a rural farming community near Perryville. I attended a two-room school for eight years, then attended high school at St. Vincent. Following graduation, I entered the Daughters of Charity where I served for many years in education, long-term care and prison ministry in Missouri, California, Utah, Illinois, Ohio, Alabama and Arkansas. In recent years I was assigned to Evansville, Indiana, to work on our Seton Harvest farm. Since I had never really lost my love for rural life and farming, I felt I had come full circle.
