Fr. Glastetter
Father Donald Glastetter, a priest of the Archdiocese of St. Louis for 58 years, died July 20. He was 83 years old.

A memorial Mass for Father Glastetter was to have been celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Washington.

Donald Anthony Glastetter was born on Dec. 15, 1939, to Anthony and Frances (Elfrink) Glastetter in Overland. He was baptized on Christmas Eve, 1939, at All Souls Church in Overland.

He attended St. Louis Preparatory Seminary-South, Cardinal Glennon College and Kenrick Seminary. Cardinal Joseph E. Ritter ordained him to the priesthood on April 3, 1965, at Saint Louis Priory.

Father Glastetter began his priestly ministry as a part-time teacher of religion at St. Dominic High School for the remainder of the school year in 1965. He then became an assistant pastor at St. Francis de Sales Parish in St. Louis.

He was an associate pastor at St. George Parish in south St. Louis County from 1971-75. In 1975, he was appointed to serve in the archdiocese’s Latin America Apostolate in Bolivia.

He returned to St. Louis in 1981 as an associate pastor at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in St. Louis. He also was an associate pastor at St. Sabina in Florissant from 1983-85 and at St. Joseph in Clayton from 1985-86.

In 1986, he was named pastor of St. Blaise in Maryland Heights, where he served for almost two years before returning to the Latin America Apostolate in Bolivia in June of 1988.

He returned to St. Louis, this time as associate pastor at St. Andrew in Lemay from 1992-96. He was named senior associate pastor at St. Patrick in Wentzville, where he served for 18 years from 1996-2014. During that time, he also briefly served as the parochial administrator of St. Alphonsus in Millwood in 2009.

In 2014, he retired with residence at Our Lady of Lourdes in Washington. He continued to serve there until moving to Pacific Care Center in 2020.
