The funeral Mass for Father Robert Warsey, OSM, was celebrated
March 15 at Annunciata Church in Chicago. Father Warsey died March 9 at
Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill. He was 67 years
of age, a friar for 36 years and priest for 33 years.
Born on
March 14, 1950, in Chicago, he entered the Order of Friar Servants of
Mary (Servites) on Sept. 18, 1979, at St. Philip Priory in Chicago. He
entered the Servite Novitiate on Aug. 11, 1980, at St. Philip’s Priory
in Begbroke/Oxford, England. He professed first vows on Aug. 15, 1981,
and solemn vows on June 12, 1984. He was ordained a priest on Jan. 12,
1985.
In the Archdiocese of St. Louis, he filled the roles of
associate pastor, administrator and pastor at Seven Holy Founders Parish
in Affton from 1985 to 1996. He also served in New Jersey and Chicago.
Father Warsey is survived by a sister, Mary Susan.
