Obituary | Sister Patricia O’Brien, CSJ

A funeral Mass for Sister Patricia O'Brien, CSJ, was celebrated Nov. 30 at Nazareth Living Center. Sister Patricia, a medical technologist and teacher, died Nov. 26 at Nazareth. She was 82.

Sister Patricia was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Evanston, Ill. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1953 and made final profession in 1961. She was formerly known as Sister Robert Margaret.

She earned a bachelor's in biology from the College of St. Teresa in 1958 and a master's in hospital/health care administration from the University of Oklahoma in 1974.

In the Archdiocese of St. Louis, she taught at St. Margaret of Scotland School in south St. Louis in 1956, and served as laboratory supervisor at St. Joseph Hospital in Kirkwood 1970-72.

She also taught in Green Bay, Wis., and served as a laboratory supervisor and medical technologist at hospitals in Kansas City, Mo., Hancock, Mich., Tulsa, Okla., and Shawnee Mission, Kan. In 2011, she moved to Nazareth Living Center to serve in a ministry of prayer and presence.

Sister Patricia is survived by two brothers, Terry O'Brien of Harrisonville, Mo., and Donald O'Brien of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and a sister, Marian Paul of Chicago. Burial was at Resurrection Cemetery.
