Historical Material Transfer
The Archdiocesan Archives and Records Office maintains a file on every parish. This file typically contains a list of pastors, assistants and deacons at the parish over time, the original parish boundaries and decrees of boundary revision, a brief history of the parish, anniversary booklets, a picture of the inside and outside of the church, pictorial directories and related church property, select building information, & chancery correspondence. Closed parish files may also include church bulletins, an important sourceof documentation on the faith community of a parish.
Parishes preparing materials for publication may contact the Archives for assistance in verifying information. They are also encouraged to forward new publications on the parish to the Archdiocesan Archives.
The Director of Archives and Records is always available to answer questions concerning the creation, maintenance, and disposition of sacramental records.
