For Individuals:

Missionary Discipleship is the work of the Church, but it begins with each individual and his or her relationship with Jesus.

  • Order, read, and study Archbishop Carlson’s pastoral letter on spiritual formation. You can download it for free here or purchase a hard copy here.
  • Read books on prayer from our list of recommended books found here
  • Read Part 4 of the Catechism, which is devoted to prayer. An online Catechism can be found here.
  • Learn the Prayer Process developed by Dynamic Catholic
  • Start keeping a Mass journal
  • Encounter Jesus in Scripture: Join a Bible study (inqure at your parish)
  • Enter RCIA if you are thinking of becoming Catholic (click here for more information)
  • Encourage someone who is thinking of becoming Catholic to enter RCIA
  • Encounter Jesus in the Sacraments: If you are not going to Mass every Sunday, the Church and your parish want you back. Mass times can be found here.

For Pastors/Parishes:

  • Use the website, bulletin, and homily to invite people back to Mass
  • Cultivate a deeper understanding of the Eucharist among your parishioners
  • Encourage parishioners to learn the Mass responses

  • Encourage parishioners to make use of the sacrament of penance
  • Distribute copies of the Archdiocese’s Short Guide to Confession
  • Assess reconciliation times to ensure that all parishioners in need of confession are able to do so
  • Encourage parishioners to attend daily Mass
  • Offer instruction on Lectio Divina
  • Consider a Eucharistic procession
  • If not currently offered, provide a time for Eucharistic Adoration
  • Assess your parish’s retreat offerings
