Couples who wish to be married in the Catholic Church are required to attend one marriage preparation program. Please make your choice from the following options:

  • Archdiocesan Marriage Preparation Classes

Sponsored by the Office of Laity & Family Life. Click here to view the class schedule. Classes are a total of 10 hours and take place at locations throughout the Archdiocese. Please do not contact the class location directly. Instead, please call 314.792.7182 and speak with the Marriage Preparation Coordinator for information or to register. Classes fill quickly, so please call as soon as possible. Cost: $160, unless otherwise noted.

  • Engaged Encounter Weekends of St. Louis

Held at the Marianist Retreat and Conference Center in Eureka, Missouri. For upcoming dates and a registration form, visit their website at http://home.centurytel.net/stlengaged. Cost: $250/couple.

  • Engaged Encounter Weekends of Illinois

Early registration recommended. For upcoming dates or to register visit their website at www.eeofs-il.org or call Bob & Lori Libby at 618.397.0386. Cost: $235/couple.

  • Marriage Preparation Mini-Retreat

Class meets Saturday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and again on Sunday from 12:00 to 5 p.m. Sponsored by St. Francis Xavier (College) Church. Call Joe Milner at 314.977.7318 to register. . Cost: $180/couple.

  • Pre-Cana Marriage Preparation Workshop

Sponsored by the St. Charles Lwanga Center in North St. Louis City, this is a Friday evening and full day Saturday workshop for engaged couples. For information, upcoming dates or to register, contact Norman Williams at 314.367.7929.

  • Spanish Language Marriage Preparation

A number of facilitator couples are available who will give engaged couples bilingual or Spanish marriage preparation. In addition to one-on-one preparation, a class is offered twice a year. For information, call Maria Lucrecia Knapp at 314.522.3516.

  • Parish-Based Sponsor Couple Experience

Check with your priest or deacon for a parish-sponsored marriage preparation program in which married couples meet one-on-one with engaged couples.

  • Getting Remarried Program

This program is specially designed for couples where one of both have been married before. The program honors the relationship experience these couples bring to their marriage, and also addresses their unique needs.
