Generation Life: Young Catholics Proclaiming the Gospel of Life

This week 2,200 youth, young adults, and adult chaperones will participate in Generation Life, the OYM sponsored trip to Washington, D.C. for the Annual March for Life. The trip will take place from January 17th - 21st.

Why Generation Life? Because there have been 59,800,000 abortions since Roe v Wade (1973), 15,000,000 children live under the Federal Poverty Level, 4,774,000 female victims of domestic violence per year, 1460 executions since 1976 (as of 7/15/2016.) It's time for a change. As one participant said, "When people can’t stand for themselves, we have to be the ones to do it, and I think it’s important to learn that as teenagers, we need to stand up for what we believe in."

Many people do not know that Generation Life extends far beyond the actual pilgrimage. GenLifeSTL 365 is the website that was launched as a resource for support on the daily Pro-Life journey. Created as an extension of the Generation Life movement and aimed at a youthful audience, GenLifeSTL 365 serves as a hub for any individual who wishes to celebrate, protect and care for the dignity of all human life, from conception to natural death.

The online community provides resources for people involved in all stages of the movement, with helpful tabs for simple navigation—“Get Informed” for those who wish to learn more and stay in-the-know, “Get Active” for people who are ready to impact their communities, and “Get Help” which provides resources for persons in crisis situations.

Pope Francis said, “Every child who, rather than being born, is condemned unjustly to being aborted, bears the face of Jesus Christ, bears the face of the Lord, who even before he was born, and then just after birth, experienced the world’s rejection. And every elderly person…even if he is ill or at the end of his days, bears the face of Christ. They cannot be discarded, as the ‘culture of waste’ suggests!”

Please pray for all the young people and adults who are taking part in Generation Life, as well as for the many other pilgrims from our Archdiocese who will march for Life this year. Also, watch the GenLife Live Stream beginning Thursday Jan. 18 at 8 pm EST.
