Position Description: 

Good Shepherd Children & Family Services has an opportunity for a full-time Parent Coach. Good Shepherd provides the highest quality foster care and treatment foster care, adoption, expectant parent counseling, maternity shelter, pregnancy services and advocacy.

Position Summary:
The Parent coach provides parenting support, education and case management to families with young children at risk of child abuse and neglect. Provide service to caseload of no more than 25. Parenting education using the Nurturing Skills curriculum is delivered within individual sessions using a home visiting approach. This position provides all services in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field
• Two years’ experience in community based child welfare service or an advanced degree in a social service field
• Thorough understanding of issues related to parenting and child development
• Knowledge of community resources
• An understanding of family systems, the impact of abuse and neglect; substance abuse; mental illness; poverty; grief and loss; and trauma on children and their families
