Maintenance/Grounds Keeper (Part-Time)

Position Description: 

Good Shepherd Catholic Church located in Hillsboro, Missouri has an opportunity for a part-time Maintenance/Grounds Keeper. The position requires 25-30 hours per week. The position provides maintenance for the parish buildings and grounds, including the cemetery. The position reports to the Parish Coordinator.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Assures the grounds are maintained in a clean and safe manner. Responsible for mowing, watering and edging lawns. Weeding, pruning and raking on a seasonal basis. Snow removal using snow blower and hand shovel. This requires the ability to come to the facility when it snows.
• Performs minor maintenance of the rectory, church, school, St. Joseph House, and out buildings as needed. Accomplishes this by light carpentry, plumbing, painting and electrical work on the facilities.
• Works with contractors on major repairs beyond light repairs
• Provides other general assistance as needed, such as setting up chairs and tables in the facilities as requested. Hauling and moving items and picking up parts or other equipment as requested by the staff
• Assures the collection and disposal of trash and garbage.
• Where appropriate, serves as a member of the Building and Grounds Committee.
• Maintains an inventory of maintenance supplies for lighting and minor repairs as needed or requested

Knowledge & Experience Requirements:
• Successful work experience in minor repair work of carpentry, plumbing, painting, and electrical.
• Successful work experience maintaining grounds, parking lots, roads
• Ability to safely and properly lift fifty pounds
• Good communication skills
• Able to honor and maintain confidentiality
• Ability to provide own transportation for job related responsibilities. Will be reimbursed for gas mileage
• On call availability for emergencies
